Description
Here’s a blast from the past….I was bored one night looking through my old images and found fourteen unprocessed exposures of M42. I think I decided I was maybe going to do something with them at a later date as the focus was off a tad. Taken sometime during the 07/08 winter with the C9 and a f6.3 reducer, so the field of view isn’t ideal, fitting only three quarters of the nebula in, but it’s still cool to see it up close.
For this I combined the composite of fourteen exposures and a single shorter exposure for the bright core. I then combined them as layers and erased through the core area to reveal the lesser exposed version.
Image Details:
Celestron 9.25” SCT @F.6.30
Canon 350D
14 x 60-70 second exposures @ ISO 400
Deepsky Stacker and Photoshop
